DAVE BRUBECK POSTER ART
The life of Dave Brubeck is of a classy cat, searching for ways to expand jazz. Brubeck was a guy who shared his love of the music and played with anybody who came around.
He gave of his time and learned by playing with some of the cooler cats around. Hungry for knowledge, Brubeck continues to give to this wonderful music he helped push forward. The cat is still playing strong in his 70's! This cat is regarded as a genius in his field, he has written a number of jazz standards, including "In Your Own Sweet Way" and "The Duke" and the jazz classic "Take Five". Brubeck's style ranges from refined to loud, reflecting his mamma's attempts at classical training and his improvisational skills. Much of his music employs unusual time signatures. The cat was like a scientist... he was always trying different style and time structures... always searching fo a way to make jazz "different. Brubeck experimented with time signatures through much of his career, recording "Pick Up Sticks" in 6/4, "Unsquare Dance" in 7/4, and "Blue Rondo à la Turk" in 9/8. He also provided music for the TV animated miniseries "This Is America, Charlie Brown"... just think... how cool is that?
